Partial Faxes

Scenario: Someone sends YOU a fax and you receive it with "Partial Fax" in the tag line with a failed tracking status

Wait! How can an inbound fax fail?

Answer: When faxes are sent sometimes they don't deliver successfully on the first attempt, and depending on configuration it my try 3-10 times before failing completely

During these attempts some pages might squeak through...

At this point two things can happen; One the sending side will either send the remaining pages on the next attempt or resend the full fax again.

Partial Fax is the result of these failed attempts.

When you receive a partial fax leave it active in your work queue for a bit. In most cases you will receive at least one more fax that is either the remaining pages from the first fax or it the complete fax with all of the pages.

If you eventually receive the complete fax, you can mark the other partial faxes as Done/Make Inactive.

If you receive multiple partial faxes, and the combined pages make a whole fax you may wish to combine those documents using the Centralis Health Desktop prior to importing to your EMR or to created a new work queue item.
